It is pretty safe to say that the Bf-109 is the most famous German aircraft ever built. One of the most vastly produced aircrafts in history, over 35,000 were built by Messerschmitt. It first saw action in 1937 during the Spanish Civil War.
The "E" version entered production in 1938 and was the first true mass-production model for the Bf-109. It was powered by a DB 601A engine with direct fuel injection, allowing for better performance under negative 'G'. The Bf-109E was armed with 20mm MGFF machine guns on each wing as well as two 7.9mm MG17 machine guns mounted on the engine cowling. The "E 4" was the most widely produced of the "E", and was exported to foreign air forces including Hungary and Romania.
MRC/Academy's version of the Messerschmitt Bf-109E 3/4 is an authentic replica of this German marvel. The 1/72 "Heinz Bar" kit features a highly detailed cockpit interior and engine compartment. It's loaded with bona fide machine guns mounted on the wings and engine cowling, just like the real thing. It also comes with a Kettenkrad to add to the reality of dioramas.
