Some reports have this aircraft as being shot down whilst returning from the target area on the 1st August 1943 from the 'low level Ploesti mission', but this is not the case. 'Prince Charming' turned back early over Corfu and did not even reach the target area. The aircraft was shot down over Bulgaria by a ME-109, while helping defend 'The WITCH' (41-11840), crash landing with only the tail gunner surviving.
