About The Dornier Do 335
The Dornier Do 335 Pfeil (Arrow) was a technically innovative German heavy fighter-bomber capable of a performance no other contemporary piston-engine aircraft could achieve. However, production of this aircraft with its unique "push-pull" twin engine layout ran out of time and not many were completed before WWII ended. Possessing a maximum speed of 765km/h, the Do 335A-1 could easily outpace any Allied fighter.
Especially for WWII aviation modelers, Dragon has produced its own innovative 1/72 scale model kit of a Do 335B-4, which is the heavy fighter version of the Pfeil. As Germany's grip on the war spiraled out of control, attention was shifted to the B-series fighter, though only a B-1 and B-4 prototype were eventually built. The B-4 had two 20mm MG151 cannons installed in the nose, as well as two wing-mounted 30mm MK103 cannons. Now, Dragon has brought Dornier's vision to fruition with this fine model kit, which includes brand new wings to match the long wingspan of this aircraft variant. Even the minutest detail on this remarkable aircraft - the undercarriage and engines, for example - is accurately represented. Photo-etched parts are also supplied in order to enhance the degree of finesse that modelers can achieve. The Do 335 was an innovative aircraft and its essence is captured perfectly in this Do 335B-4 model from Dragon.
