The J-7C/D fighters are Chinese copies of the Russian MiG-21MF ('Fishbed-G'), based on examples obtained a third-country (Egypt or Romania) in the 1980s. The reverse-engineering was not entirely successful and as a result the aircraft was only built in a small number.

Kit has engraved panel lines, detailed cockpit, ejection seat and forward fuselage, 2-piece intake trunking and detailed engine, refueling probe, detailed wheel wells and undercarriage (with rubber tires), separate control surfaces (with optional position leading edge flaps), optional speed brake, optional canopy and other glazings, photoetch accents, external stores: PL-7 (x2), PL-9 (x2), PL-5 (x2).
