The KC-135 evolved from the first jet transport designed in the early 1950s and continues to serve as the one of the primary transport and mid-air refueling aircraft for the United States Air Force. It was placed in service in 1957 and updated versions still are flying after over 54 years with many more years still to come. The KC-135R served both United States Air Force and Air National Guard units from 1982 until the last aircraft was retired in September 2009. Features all new tooling and represents the KC-135R with re-fueling boom, boom operator position, "R" engines and authentic 1/144 scale fuselage.
