Lotus was the pioneering racing team that invented the wedge-shaped body, with inverted aircraft- like wings to achieve a greater down force effect that considerably improved handling and performance. In 1977, when it first appeared on the racing circuit, Lotus won 5 races but missed out on the championship. But the following year in 1978, and in 1979 they won the titles with dominating performances. The inverted wing was used in the early stages in 1978 but they made the switch full-time in the 1979 season. The specifications are for the 1977 British GP, and the Olympus logo on the side of the car are the specifications for the spare car.
