The Lavochkin-Gorbunov-Goudkov LaGG-3 was a Soviet fighter aircraft of World War II. It was a refinement of the earlier LaGG-1, and was one of the most modern aircraft available to the Soviet Air Force at the time of Germany's invasion in 1941.
The LaGG was an acronym of the designers' names (S. Lavochkin, V. Gorbunov, and M. Goudkov). With the lighter airframe and supercharged engine, the novel of the LaGG-3 was its all wood-laminate construction.
Production of LaGG-3 began in January 1941 in 5 plants. Planes of 7th series were finished with armament including one ShVAK cannon, one BS heavy machine gun and 2 ShKAS machine guns. Until 11th series, ShKAS were replaced by 6 RS-82 rocket projectiles.
This kit contains 2 decal variants:
- LaGG-3 series 7 of 4 Guard Regiment (Leningrad area, Winter 1941)
- LaGG-3 series 11 of Captain V. Mironov of 609 Regiment (Murmansk area, Summer 1942)
