As part of the Air Defence Command, the two-seat F-101 interceptor formed the backbone of American Air Defence for many decades. The first modified F-101B versions entered service with the USAF on 05.01.1959. Their armament included the new M-13 Weapons Control System for the AIM-4G Falcon Guided Missile which was housed in a rotating housing within the fuselage. Alternatively, two MB-1 Genie missiles with a nuclear warhead could be carried. The last three F-101B Squadrons were disbanded in 1971.
