Without a doubt, the P-47N was the biggest single-piston engined fighter ever manufactured, weighing in at 20,700 pounds. Entering into production in 1944, the "N" saw limited action in the European theater, but contributed heavily to the air superiority the U.S. enjoyed in the Pacific. It had an expanded fuel capacity for extended missions, and provided daily bomber support to B-29s attacking Japan. To counter pilot fatigue on these long missions, the "N" had automated power setting controls and auto-pilot for long over-water flights.
You can "expect" Academy's 1/48 kit to be a nice addition to your Thunderbolt collection. It measures 8" in length, with a wingspan of 10.5". The bubbletop cockpit is highly detailed, and it comes with colorful decal schemes which add to the authenticity.
