The P-47D was a workhorse of the U.S. Army Air Force during the last half of World War II and saw action in nearly every theater of the war. Its 2,000 horse power engine and exhaust turbine made the aircraft large and heavy, but these were no barriers to its success. Its bomb load capacity made it outstanding for ground attacks. With total production amounting over 15,000 the Thunderbolt remained popular with many air forces well into the 1950s.
Academy has brought the P-47D back to life with this 1/48 "Nose Art" kit. It is armed with 500 and 1000 pound bombs and a 4.5" rocket launcher. You'll notice the high detail of the bubbletop cockpit and retractable landing gear. It comes with various authentic and "out of the ordinary" markings that make this Thunderbolt stick out from its peers.
