With the "Phantom Pharewell" in Wittmundhafen on the 29 June 2013, an era which began on 18 May 1973 with the official first flight of the F-4F 37+01 came to an end. Phantom 37+01 was the first and only F-4F which was manufactured entirely in the USA. It entered service in Jever, Germany on 26 July 1974. After a long period of service with JaboG (Fighter-Bomder Wing) 36 in Rheine-Hopsten, it also served with JG (Fighter Wing) 74 and JG 72. It has been in service with JG 71 "Richthofen" since the Summer of 2008, and now after 7,400 hours of flight time has gone into a well deserved retirement as a "Gate Guard".
