Taking the fight to new heights
As altitude increases the wing area needed to keep a fighter aloft also increases. Detachable pointed wing tips were added to Spitfire MkVIIs and VIIIs, increasing their wingspan by four feet (1.2 m) and allowing them to combat high-flying Luftwaffe aircraft. Pierre Henri Clostermann, a highly-decorated French ace, tallied well over a dozen aerial victories and innumerable ground target kills while flying the Spitfire Mk VII. This limited edition kit features new wingtip and canopy parts, plus decals for three R.A.F. planes including one flown by Clostermann.
