When the Royal Navy needed effective carrier-based aircraft, the Seafire Mk.lb was born from necessity and scarcity. With no time to design new aircraft, the admiralty rigged existing Spitfires with hooks so they could land on carriers. These new Sea-Spitfires became Seafires which carriers like the Formidable fielded against the Germans and Japanese. The kit contains a model Seafire with arresting hook and under fuselage panel parts.
