Cyber-Hobby has given birth to another brand new 1/72 scale aircraft kit for expectant modelers! The subject of this new item is the Hawker Siddeley Sea Vixen, a twin-boom jet fighter used by the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy in the 1960s-70s. This carrier-based aircraft could travel at speeds of up to 1,110km/h, and it was armed with two Microcell unguided rocket packs, Firestreak air-to-air missiles and bombs. The Cyber-Hobby kit represents a twin-seat Sea Vixen FAW.1 (FAW denotes Fighter All Weather), the variant that first flew in March 1957. The first Sea Vixen squadron was formed in 1959, and many of the aircraft were later upgraded to FAW.2 configuration.

This 1/72 scale kit makes extensive use of slide molds so as to create a harmonious blend of detail and provide satisfying ease of assembly. Panel lines are sharply and precisely rendered thanks to the application of laser technology. The fuselage is a complex shape because of the twin tail booms, but very judicious engineering and clever parts separation mean all the components fit together perfectly. The cockpit for the pilot, which is offset towards the port side, is featured correctly too. Beside it is the top hatch for the observer. While the service career of the Sea Vixen FAW.1 may have ended in the late 1960s, the tenure of Cyber-Hobby's superb kit is just beginning!
