The Lockheed-built Shooting Star was the first American production aircraft to exceed 500 mph in level flight, the first fully operational American jet airplane manufactured in quantity and the first USAF jet used in combat. An F-80C is officially credited with the first jet vs. jet aerial victory and the type lead the US Air Force into the jet age. Limited-run kit featuring injection-molded airframe with fine engraved panel lines, 2-piece canopy and detailed cockpit. Also includes resin details (including wheels and ejection seat), photo-etch parts (including color instrument panel).
