The Mirage III is the fighter jet which, during the 1960's, permitted France to belong, once again, to the exclusive club of countries able to manufacture Mach 2 aircraft. It was the first European airplane to reach this speed plateau in October 1958. The first version to become part of the Air Force fleet was the intercepter Mirage IIIC. Soon France developed a ground attack version which was called the Mirage IIIE with an elongated fuselage and reinforced wingspan and landing gear permitting a greater load capacity. The jet engine was a more powerful Atar 9C with a larger fuel capacity. The Cyrano IIB radar developed for air to air missions or air to ground missions is further aided by a Doppler radar located on the nose of the aircraft. The Mirage IIIE was able to load standard bombs, the AN52 atomic bomb, air to ground and air to air missiles, as well as rockets. This array of weapons evolved over the 30 years of the aircraft's career. The Mirage IIIE was used in four Air Force squadrons. This kit allows you to choose among nine operational devices on the Mirage IIIE. It also offers the choice of various combinations of external loads.
