The MiG-29's agile performance and high-alpha capabilities have made it a favorite fighter all over the world. After NATO gave it the "Fulcrum" nickname, the MiG-29's special moniker became a source of Soviet pride in the waning days of the Cold War. As more military units replace their MiG-29 fleets with Sukhoi Su-27s, twenty-four MiG-29s remain in active service with five Ukrainian Air Force regiments.
