The F-16 has been the world's most preferred fighter aircraft since its introduction in the late 1970s. The F-16's ability to pull off 9-g maneuvers and speeds exceeding Mach 2 cemented its status as a highly agile dogfighter. Among its many innovations are a frameless bubble canopy, a "fly-by-wire" flight control system and an internal M61 Vulcan cannon mounted in the left wing root.
