Japanese Type 89 Medium Tanks serial production began in 1931. It entered service in Japanese Imperial Army one year later, in 1932, and soon became the main tank of it. It required a crew of 4. Its armament consisted of Type 90 57mm gun and 2 Type 91 6,5mm machine guns.

Kit has multi-part lower hull, single piece upper hull with separate turret, optional turret hatch, exhaust with cover, trenching device, Type 90 gun barrel, (x2) 6.5 mm Type 91 machine guns, separate on-vehicle tools and equipment, side skirts with exterior detail, detailed exhaust, running gear (road wheels, sprockets and separate injection molded track lengths), photoetch (exhaust cover, trenching device), also includes (1) full figure and half figure.
